Syöpäsykkeli – Charity Cruise with Program

The Syöpäsykkeli (CancerCycle) tour will arrive in the Koli tourism area in August 2025, following a route around Lake Pielinen: Nurmes–Lieksa–Vuonislahti–Koli. As part of the tour, a charity cruise will be organized from Koli aboard the vessel Marival II on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The cruise departs from Koli harbor at 3 PM and stops in Vuonislahti at 4 PM to pick up the Syöpäsykkeli cyclists. The cruise returns to Koli at 5 PM. The event will be hosted by musician Juha Vartiainen, who will also provide music and interview the cyclists in front of the audience.
All ticket proceeds from the cruise will be donated to Sylva ry, an organization that provides concrete support for children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families throughout all stages of treatment and recovery. What is Syöpäsykkeli (CancerCycle)?
Syöpäsykkeli is a charity initiative that raises funds for children and young people affected by cancer. It began in 2021 from an idea by Matti Kumpulainen and Kari Saastamoinen. The very first campaign raised an impressive €35,000 for Sylva ry. The most recent ride took place in 2023 and collected nearly €8,000. The event brings together sports legends, companies, associations, and local supporters—all united in the goal of helping children with cancer and their families.
The summer 2025 Syöpäsykkeli tour will take place from August 8 to August 24, covering the route from Iisalmi to Kiuruvesi.
