Snowshoeing trip to Kolinuuro and Pieni-Koli landscapes - "the slightly more demanding trip, please!"
Koli National Park in North Karelia is one of the most stunning natural attractions in Finland. A snowshoeing trip in Koli National Park is an unforgettable experience where you can admire beautiful landscapes and learn about the history and nature of the national landscape.
We start the trip from the front of the Nature Center Ukko. Through Kolinuuro, we walk to Pikku Koli to admire the view of Lake Pielinen and the majestic Koli peaks. The Kolinuuro in between separates these two ancient continental plates!
From there, we continue towards the Koli peaks. The first stop is Paha-Koli, whose majesty we admire from below. Then, we move on to the top of Ukko-Koli and back to the starting point at the Ukko Nature Center.
At the top of Koli, we enjoy a magnificent view of Koli National Park. The wilderness guide will tell you more about Koli's history and its significance to Finnish cultural heritage. Koli has inspired many artists, and when you visit the Koli peaks, you will understand why these landscapes have been captured in so many paintings and poems.
No previous experience in snowshoeing is needed! Participants will be provided with sturdy and easy-to-use snowshoes, which are suitable for even steeper, snowier, and icier terrain. Poles will also be provided for additional support.
This trip includes elevation differences that make the route more challenging and adventurous. The pace is kept moderate, and the trip is a physically active experience, but not a demanding athletic performance. You are likely to break a sweat!
